It is very important to communicate with your mentor or boss and to always update your tasks. Every time I finish a project or an assignment I always communicate with my mentor and ask what I should change or what needs some work and it always helps. If you don't communicate then you're not socializing about your work and that can hurt not only your work but your relationship that you have built with your mentor.
